Robbie Hill Band with support from Deke McGee Band
September 2, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm£13
The Robbie Hill Band
When blues great Otis Grand tells you it’s time to expand your horizons, you listen if you’re serious about your music. Robbie Hill, originally of Fife, Scotland, had played all over the UK, going out of his way to see the greats while also studying music. But Hill heeded his mentor and set out for Scandinavia with little more than a backpack and a guitar. Helsinki seemed the place to be.
Robbie Hill Band mix covers that pull new meat from old bones with original work that sounds as old as mud. The trio couple their globe-spanning experience with a deep and abiding appreciation for what it means to play the Blues to create a sound that is both unique and infectiouslyfamiliar. The band released “Price To Pay” on Blues Boulevard records in 2014 revealing excellent song-writing with a new album to be released shortly. Hill has also appeared on stage with Otis Grand, Curtis Salgado, Erja Lyytinen, Ina Forsman & Helge Tallqvist.
The band comprising Robbie Hill- guitar& vocals, Tatu Pärssinen on drums and Matti Vallius on bass come back to Edinburgh Blues Club this time as headliners by popular demand after previous successful support slots for Grainne Duffy and Erja Lyytinen.
